Itinerary

Day 1: George

Upon your arrival at George Airport African Sands will meet you and transfer you to Fancourt Golf & Country Estate. After you have checked into your room, African Sands will go through the itinerary in detail with you and answer any questions you may have.

The rest of the afternoon and evening is at leisure for you to orientate yourself with this fabulous property.

Day 2: George

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

And then it is straight onto the Fancourt Montagu Course. This course has previously been voted “Best Golf Course in South Africa” and since then it has had a 25 million Rand refurbishment. It is an excellent course!

 

Non Golfer:
Depart on a guided tour of Oudtshoorn (approx. 70 km away from George) once known as the “Feather Capital of the World”. With the Cango Caves, Ostrich Farms and the Wildlife Ranch, Oudtshoorn is a must for the overseas visitor.

Day 3: George / Knysna

Today you will be playing the Fancourt Outeniqua Course. This renowned course hosted the President’s Cup Golf Tournament in November 2003 and the Women’s World Cup of Golf in February 2005. It is a truly spectacular course!

 

Non Golfer:
Today is a day to spoil yourself and relax in the fantastic spa at Fancourt 

 

In the late afternoon you will be transferred to Knysna

 

Check into your hotel and spend the afternoon exploring your surrounds

Day 4: Knysna

Day at leisure

 

Enjoy a day sight seeing in this most spectacular part of the country. Head to the beautiful indigenous forest of Tsitsikamma National Park where you can enjoy a walk through the forests and along the suspension bridges at Storms River. The views here are incredible.

 

After lunch continue on back to Knysna, stopping at the Knysna Elephant Park which is an educational experience regarding the life and habits of elephants.

Day 5: Knysna

Today it is your turn to play the awe inspiring Pezula Championship Golf Course. With its incredible views, this course is one not soon to be forgotten!

 

Non-Golfer:
A day of options for you. So many things to do and so little time...

  • A well deserved treatment at the exquisite Pezula Spa & Gym
  • A day on a catamaran on the lagoon finished off with oysters and champagne
  • Knysna is a centre for arts & crafts. Visit the galleries & the arts & crafts shops

Day 6: Knysna

Another day of excellent golf. This time it is the Goose Valley Golf Club just outside Plettenberg Bay. This course was designed by Gary Player who also owns a home on the estate.

 

Non-Golfer:
After dropping the golfers off, continue onto Monkeyland, the world’s first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary.
Lunch can be served at Linga Longer Restaurant at Goose Valley

On the way back, stop at the Garden of Eden for a short walk through the indigenous forest, then drive up to the Knysna Heads, where you will enjoy the beautiful views over the Ocean, the Lagoon and Knysna.

Day 7: Knysna

Make your way down to the lagoon where you will cross it by boat to visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. You will be taken up on the Western Head in a 4X4 and then you can walk down through the Nature reserve. It is an easy 2.2 km walk and is well worth it.

 

Enjoy a buffet lunch at the restaurant.

 

Optional: You can take the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe steam train along some of the most spectacular scenery including the Lake District to George. On arrival at George you will then be drive back to Knysna.

Day 8: Port Elizabeth

Transfer to Port Elizabeth (approx. 3 hours away) Enjoy an early lunch en route.

In the afternoon Humewood Golf Course is waiting for you. The only ‘real’ links course of the country and one of the oldest courses as well. The club house has spectacular views over the ocean and the golf course.

 

Non-Golfer:
Enjoy a tour through the old centre of Port Elizabeth. The Donkin reserve, Fort Frederick and the Horse Memorial are places well worth visiting. Afterwards enjoy shopping at the Boardwalk, a pleasant 'waterfront' mall

Day 9: Port Elizabeth

The last course of this trip is the Port Elizabeth Golf Club. This course has been completely revamped and its reputation is fast growing.

 

Non-Golfer:
Enjoy a game drive into the Addo Elephant National Park. As the name suggest, on this game drive you will see elephants, but also lions, buffalo’s and rhino’s roam this park. In the afternoon, we will visit the adjacent park of Schotia.

Day 10: Gorah

Transfer to Gorah Elephant Camp where you will spend 2 days enjoying the wild Africa. This reserve is located in a non malaria area and is perfect for spotting the Big Five (Lions, Leopards, Buffalo, Elephants and Rhino!) With game rangers and trackers to help you learn all about the animals and the local environment, it is the perfect relaxing way to end the trip.

Day 11: Gorah

Full day at the reserve enjoying Africa at its best.

 

Enjoy an early morning game drive in search of the Big Five, followed by a heary South African Breakfast.

 

A game walk is the best way to commune with nature and get to see the smaller animals and plants that you might miss on a game drive.

Spend the day relaxing the in sun by the pool

 

In the late afternoon, depart on a game drive in search of the more noctural animals... perhaps see a lion on the hunt!  

 

Return to the lodge in time for dinner
