Bovlei Valley Retreat guest house is set on the outskirts of the historic and beautiful town of Wellington, in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Just a 45 minute drive from Cape Town, 15 minutes from Paarl and 30 minutes from Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and within easy reach of the West coast, Wellington make the ideal base to explore the Western Cape.
The lodge
The estate lies at the foothills of the magnificent Limietberg, Groenberg and Hawequa mountains, which offer amazing views and create long hot summer days and cool evening breezes.
The estate harvests English Lavender, Guava Fruit and hosts its own vineyard. In February 2006 Bovlei picked its first vintage of boutique Shiraz and Merlot wine, joining neighbouring farms in high class, small yield wine production.
Your hosts and owners moved from England in 2002, where Lee spent 12 years in the Royal Navy as an Emergency Doctor and Abbi worked in the hospitality industry. Today Lee is Head of Emergency Medicine for the Western Cape and Abbi manages the guest house with her team of staff.

The accommodation offering consists of 5 newly refurbished en-suite bedrooms - three in converted stables and 2 in a converted farm cottage - and one self-catering cottage.

Activities
Wellington is full of boutique wine cellars and is becoming famous for its award winning wines. Private cellar tours can be arranged or guests can visit our many cellar that are open to the public 6 or 7 days a week. Take a drive over the historic Bains Kloof pass, through amazing mountain scenery, beautiful fynbos and forestry. Hike on the available routes to rock pools and waterfalls. Mountain bike or stroll over neighbouring vineyards, past olive and orange groves, over rivers and up over hills past bee hives and pine wood to enjoy mountain air and views.

They provide exceptional service with a homely and personal touch. Each wedding is organised and run personally by the owners Abbi & Lee Wallis. Only six weddings a year are allowed at Bovlei Valley Retreat, making your day truly special and unique.
When hosting your wedding at Bovlei Valley Retreat you have exclusive hire of the venue and guest house including four guest suites and the honeymoon suite. Bovlei ensure a truly warm, friendly and personal atmosphere. The Retreat can host up to 120 people seated on the Cape Dutch veranda.
