Ant’s Hill is a bush home that can be booked on an exclusive basis situated in a private game reserve in the Malaria free Waterberg, 2 hours south of the Limpopo River and 3 hours North West of Johannesburg. Its unique Habitat is home to a variety of game including leopard and the rare brown hyena, not to mention 300 species of birds.
The lodge
Ant’s Hill is hosted by wonderful staff that creates an open and friendly atmosphere. The emphasis at the lodge is on offering guests a truly personal and flexible safari. There is no specific wake up time, guests can do what they want when they want, they can be as active or inactive as they like and more than one activity can be offered at any one time. Built by Ant and Tessa on the edge of a cliff, this bush home offers breathtaking views across the Waterberg. With spacious rooms and vast folding doors, the thatched lodge blends into the bush while the exotic furniture and brightly coloured African fabrics make it both sophisticated and comfortable.
Rooms
Each room has been uniquely designed hence all have different features. All the rooms are extremely spacious and have their own verandahs with comfortable lounging beds with large cushions. There is one double room situated upstairs of the main lodge, furnished with a 7 ft by 7 ft four poster bed offering the best views down the valley from both the bed and the large verandah. One honeymoon cottage is situated slightly further away and built with large bi-folding doors on two sides offering spectacular views all round. There is a bath with a view, plus indoor and outdoor showers and an open fire place. The family cottage consists of two en suite bedrooms with a large central living room / dining room, mini bar and fireplace and large bi-folding doors which open out onto a deck. This cottage is ideal for families with children; meals can be served in the cottage on request. A small lawn at the back of the cottage is an ideal playing area for children.
Facilities & Activities
With a superb collection of horses, one is able to enjoy the ultimate game viewing experience. Guided bush walks are informative and interactive; mountain biking for the energetic and game drives for the more conventional. Alternatively enjoy a relaxing massage. The flexibility of the camp is renowned. Special activities are arranged for kids.
