Ant’s Nest is a colonial home that can be booked on an exclusive basis situated in a private game reserve in the Malaria free Waterberg, 2 hours south of the Limpopo River and 3 hours North West of Johannesburg. Its unique Habitat is home to a variety of game including leopard and the rare brown hyena, not to mention 300 species of birds.
The lodge
Lying in a natural amphitheatre, the original Ants Nest homestead, with its wide verandas, has a classic African atmosphere. Tessa, who grew up in Kenya, brought the colonial home a stylish warmth using classic furniture fashioned from local fabrics, timber and stone.
Rooms
Guests are accommodated in luxury double rooms in the main colonial house. Only one group is booked in at a time to ensure luxury and privacy.
Facilities
There is a 15 metre pool in the garden, ideal for those needing some exercise or great for kids. It is heated all year round. Extensive lawns and beds of indigenous plants surround the pool and home and there is a wonderful, thatched covered chill out spot with vast sofa beds to relax on during the heat of the day. A wide variety of game frequents the waterhole in front of the house where horses and dogs abound.
Activities
With a superb collection of horses, one is able to enjoy the ultimate game viewing experience in the Waterberg. Guided bush walks are informative and interactive; mountain biking for the energetic and game drives for the more conventional. Alternatively enjoy a relaxing massage. The flexibility of the camp is renowned.
