Top Cape Town Restaurant: La Colombe at Constantia Uitsig

This is one of my all time favourite restaurants!

Tucked away beneath huge oak and leafy palm trees, with the rustic sound of running water in the background, La Colombe looks out onto a quaint secluded cobbled courtyard.  Here is pure simple elegance on a working wine farm in the Constantia Valley!

La Colombe is located a mere 20 minutes drive from Cape Town, 25 minutes from the airport, it is scenically situated en route to Cape Point and Simon's Town and is within minutes of the fantastic Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. In November 2006 Luke Dale-Roberts was appointed as executive chef of La Colombe, and since then he has sailed forward in chef glory to make his mark at this award-winning restaurant! His influence is seen by the exciting new Asian influences added to the mix of classic and contemporary French Cuisine served. Quite simply, Luke has completely elevated the dining experience at this glorious restaurant by winning the 2008 Prudential Eat Out Chef of the Year and Restaurant of the Year award, being voted one of the top 50 restaurants in the world by the San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2009 and, most recently, achieving the highest three star rating in the 2009 issue of the acclaimed Rossouw’s Restaurants guide!

Wow, pretty impressive achievements! With impeccable Service and an Award Winning Wine List, La Colombe is a truly unforgettable experience! I would recommend this for a special occasion experience in a tranquil and unrushed atmosphere.
