Top tips for planning a Beach Wedding:
- No one can forecast the weather for a specific date far in advance, so as much as you want to have a Beach Wedding, always be prepared for the worst case scenario and have a good back up venue close by!
- Beach weddings are undeniably romantic, but do remember that most beaches are public areas, which means your wedding service is open to any passers by who happen to be there. Keep this in mind and try and choose a small, more intimate beach where there is less chance of passers by. Also, try and choose a time when the beach is less likely to be busy. Of course, your wedding co-ordinator will try and set your wedding up in the most secluded area, but be prepared for people watchers.
- In order to marry on a beach, which is considered public property, you will have to obtain special permission from the city council. Your wedding coordinator will obtain this for you, but it is something to keep in mind.
- In South Africa no drinking of alcohol is permitted on public beaches.
- Always bear in mind the tide time! This can cause havoc during a ceremony if not considered carefully. The last thing you need is to have to speed up your wedding ceremony due to the untimely arrival of high tide! My best suggestion is that you buy a tide time table and work around this. The moons movement (waxing/ waning) will also affect the tide, so pay attention to the moon phases too! Tides are generally much higher during a full moon and even higher than usual during a spring tide.
